With over 90lakh elders in India living with Dementia, there’s a huge dearth of residential care facilities to offer quality dementia care across the country.
As part of our ongoing commitment to addressing this gap, Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT) is launching a collaborative initiative to provide technical support to like-minded organizations nationwide.
This project will follow a hub-and-spoke model, with NMT’s multidisciplinary team serving as the central hub. By leveraging technology and telemedicine, we aim to empower partner organizations to establish satellite dementia care centers that deliver high-quality services at an affordable cost.
As a pilot project, we have successfully set up our first satellite centre in Kolar, in partnership with ETCM Hospital. The response has been extremely encouraging — while maintaining the quality of care, we've achieved a 46% reduction in operational costs.
With your support, we are ready to scale this impact by establishing 10 telemedicine-enabled dementia care centers across India. In collaboration with partners who share our mission and infrastructure, these centers will extend expert care to underserved and rural communities.
Each center will be:
   a)	Remotely managed by dementia specialists, ensuring consistent quality
   b)	Equipped with tele-consultation facilities for families to access specialists
   c)	Focused on providing personalized care plans and continuous family support
   d)	Designed to bridge the geographic divide, bringing dignity and expertise into the homes of those who need it most.
We will work in close collaboration with the Dementia India Alliance to establish dementia care facilities across India.

Bengaluru is home to an estimated 460 slums, where around 10% of the population is aged over 60. These elders face daily challenges including poor health access, social isolation, financial insecurity, and limited mobility due to congested roads, traffic, and safety concerns. To address these issues, we currently operate three Hiriyaravadis—safe, supportive spaces that provide care, engagement, and essential services to older adults living in slum communities. The response from our elderly beneficiaries has been overwhelmingly positive. Encouraged by this success, we are now planning to establish 25 more Hiriyaravadis across Bengaluru to reach more elders in need.
We invite NGOs, community groups, and individuals working in or for slum communities to collaborate with us in making this vision a reality.

As elders face a range of challenges—from loneliness, neglect, abuse, and health concerns to lack of information about pensions, legal rights, and caregiving—they often have nowhere to turn. A dedicated helpline offers a safe, confidential space where elders can speak, be heard, and be guided with compassion and respect. Since 2002, the Elders Help Line has been working closely with Bengaluru City police to combat harassment and abuse of elders handling over 2 lakh calls. The National Helpline for Senior Citizens, in collaboration with the Government of India, strives to tackle issues for the elders across Karnataka. Yet, many such initiatives struggle due to a lack of consistent funding.
With your support, we can expand these services, train empathetic responders, and ensure that no elder feels alone or voiceless. Your donation can help us keep the lines open—for help, for hope, and for dignity in aging.

While children gain empathy and perspective, older adults rediscover purpose, laughter, and a sense of belonging.
Your contribution can help us reach more schools and elders, enriching lives across generations with connection and care.
